Fountain Gate Primary School | Narre Warren, Victoria

Earlier this year, Furnware Business Development Manager, Samantha Stark, worked alongside Fountain Gate Primary School Principal, Ilknur Moore, on updating a range of spaces to align with the schools’ requirements.

Fountain Gate Primary School is a coeducational, government school in Narre Warren. Furnware has been involved with the school for several years and has collaborated with Ilknur on many projects. The school’s vision focuses on providing learners with the space they need to share their curiosity, voice and expertise.

"Partnering with Furnware ensures a dedication to crafting furniture that not only enhances pedagogical practices but is also underpinned by meeting students point of need. Furnware's responsiveness to these needs is unparalleled; they invest the necessary time to collaborate intimately with schools, ensuring that every decision is meticulously tailored for the best outcomes."

Each year Ilknur nominates a year level and classrooms that are most in need of an upgrade and leans on Furnware for consultation around finding the right furniture and sharing inspiration. Furnware is able to visit the space and draw up design ideas to the scale of their classrooms, giving Ilknur the opportunity to visualise the space and make changes before locking in the furniture and colour palettes.
This year’s spaces that had been elected for Fountain Gate Primary School’s yearly upgrade included four Year One classrooms and a breakout area for discovery learning. The brief was to upgrade these spaces to optimize engagement and create a breakout area with wellness inspired furniture to give students a safe space. The school opted for the Learning Hut and other pieces from the Furnware Mindfull range.

“When designing learning spaces, the approach has to be holistic and really look at the project with a long-term lens. We need to consider how the space works for both current and future students and make sure the products will also fit older students for the rollout of upgrades across other classrooms. Our longstanding relationship with Fountain Gate Primary School made the collaboration process run smoothly as Ilknur is also future focused.”

For the Year One classrooms, the furniture selected included items previously ordered in past furniture upgrade projects. This ensured a cohesive look within the school. To differentiate each classroom, vibrant and bright colours were selected by Ilknur Moore to bring the spaces to life.
