Made with purpose, made to last

The Furnware approach to sustainability is driven by our purpose.

Our focus has always been on wellbeing. One chair, one space at a time, our mission is to improve outcomes for learners and teachers through better design.

Wellbeing underpins every aspect of our commitment – through our responsibility to the planet, to communities and to our customers.

We design products that are durable, not disposable

Because the most sustainable product is one that lasts. Our furniture is created for long-term use in demanding school environments, reducing replacement cycles. It’s no wonder we back our furniture with a 10-year warranty; one of the longest offered in the industry.

Intelligent designs, deeply considered components

To meet the demands of the user, we design furniture with high impact materials that have undergone thorough testing. Designs include replaceable components for product endurance.

Designed from research with outcomes in mind

Our products are made with intention. We work from years of classroom research to create furniture that makes a meaningful, measurable difference to learners and teachers.

Responsible materials and rigorous processes

We consider every element and stage of manufacture to ensure we minimise our impact and produce the very best products for our customers. We use only safe and non-toxic materials.

Turning old into new

We consider the end of life of our furniture, designing for disassembly, recycling & efficient retirement.

Our products are made with post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, pots and containers. We have a circular recycling programme where old chairs are recycled into new ones.

On the ground service and support

Furnware is made in New Zealand and we’re proud to support local industry. This reduces freight distances, improves logistics and supports our customers where they are.

We back our products long-term with NZ-wide service, and local repair and replacement.

We approach delivery with a minimalist mindset

Our shorter supply chain compared to imported products means reduced freight and logistics, and a smaller carbon footprint. And with local manufacturing, we have greater control over quality, materials and delivery.

Efficient freight and logistics

We ship components rather than fully assembled products to reduce our transport impact.

Ethical and responsible partnerships

We are committed to responsible supplier relationships and sourcing, and supply chain transparency.

Furnware Consider Materials Used in Manufacture

Social and cultural responsibility

We work closely with schools and communities and understand the importance of culture, inclusion and community impact in education environments. Our product ranges include cultural design collaborations, inclusive designs for diverse learners, and we continue to evolve to meet the many needs in the education sector.

Diverse teams build better outcomes

Furnware is an inclusive workplace and we cultivate ethical partnerships across our business. We champion local employment throughout our supply chain and support partnerships that align with our purpose and values.
