The Base Bench is designed to support collaborative, informal and group learning across a variety of school settings. Its four shapes, quarter circle, rectangle, radial and square, give teachers and designers the flexibility to create different seating configurations to suit different learning activities and spaces. Each shape is available in three seat heights, making it straightforward to match the bench to tables and student age groups throughout the school.
Comfortable and practical, the Base Bench features a high-quality, high-density foam seat upholstered in a choice of vinyl or textile. Students can sit or kneel comfortably on the bench during group work, supporting a relaxed, inclusive learning posture. The 32 mm round Silver Star powder-coated steel legs are strong and stable, while the lightweight construction means the benches can be easily moved and reconfigured as learning needs change.
As part of the wider Base Modular Range, the Base Bench is designed to work alongside other Base collection pieces and compatible tables, helping schools create cohesive, flexible soft seating zones in classrooms, libraries and breakout areas. Upholstery options include vinyl, textile and the Ako fabric range, crafted in collaboration with Hawke’s Bay Maori artist Jacob Scott, supporting identity and belonging in learning spaces.
